Pulp Machine Arc Screen For White Water Fiber Recovery

2026-09-28

In waste paper pulping and papermaking white water recovery systems, the arc screen is a separation device that, despite its simple structure, plays a critical role. It achieves the separation of fibers from water by utilizing the pressure of the pulp itself against a arc screening surface. This “non-powered” characteristic make arc screen one of the most cost-effective and easiest-to-maintain pieces of equipment for applications such as fiber recovery, pulp thickening, and white water reuse.

Arc Screen Features

Non-motorized operation: Operates without a motor, rotor, or vibration mechanism, relying solely on feed pump pressure; features a very low failure rate and requires only screen plate cleaning for maintenance.

Wedge-wire design with superior self-cleaning capabilities: The screen surface consists of wear-resistant, sharp-edged stainless steel wedge wires that resist clogging; particles smaller than half the slot width pass through, while fibers are effectively intercepted.

Reversible screen frame and intermittent spray washing: The screen frame can be flipped 180 degrees for even wear distribution; an oscillating high-pressure spray pipe periodically washes the screen surface to keep slots clear.

Fiber recovery and filtrate reuse: Applied for paper mill white water recovery to capture fine fibers; the filtrate can be reused for wire washing, spraying, or dilution/thickening processes, thereby reducing fiber loss and wastewater treatment loads.

Doubles as thickening equipment: Can connect to the accept outlet of a pressure screen to thicken low-consistency pulp to 3%–6%, reducing the load on downstream thickening equipment; also suitable for thickening broke (recycled pulp).

Easy installation: Features a compact design that allows for direct installation above the white water chest or next to the pressure screen without the need for a dedicated foundation, making it ideal for both new construction and retrofit projects.

If you are planning a white water reuse system for a waste paper pulping line, or if the fiber recovery rate of your existing arc screen is unsatisfactory, please feel free to contact us.
