The Role of Grapples in Pulp Preparation

On a paper pulping production line, grapple precisely feed bundles of waste cardboard from the stockpile into the pulper or conveyor belt, marking the starting point of the entire pulping process. Although grapple operations may seem simple, they directly affect pulping efficiency, production pace, and even the final pulp quality.

Grapple Application Scenarios

First, raw material loading, unloading, and stacking. After raw materials such as waste paper, wood, arrive at the plant, they need to be unloaded and stacked for storage. Grab cranes can grab and stack materials in batches, saving labor and improving site utilization.

Second, pulper feeding. Feeding waste paperboard into the pulper is the first step in waste paper pulping. Traditionally, this is done manually, which is labor-intensive and inefficient. Grab cranes enable mechanized handling from the stockpile to the pulper; operators only need to control the grab to complete the entire process of grabbing, lifting, moving, and feeding.

Third, pulp residue and scum treatment. Scum such as plastic strips and ropes generated during pulping need to be cleaned regularly. Specialized scum grabbing devices can extend into the scum well or washing tank to remove impurities, ensuring the normal operation of the pulping system. Some manufacturers have designed grabs with umbrella-shaped scum-blocking components to prevent debris from tangling in the wire ropes and pulley assemblies.
