Waste Paper Pulp Machine Drum Screen
In waste paper pulping system, the drum screen acts as the “gatekeeper” for coarse screening. Positioned after the high-consistency hydrapulper, it performs preliminary screening on the disintegrated pulp, removing large and heavy contaminants to alleviate the workload for subsequent fine screening and de-trashing stages.

Drum Screen Application Location
In the continuous pulping system, a perforated-plate drum screen is employed, positioned downstream of the D-type hydrapulper and the hydrapurger. Waste paper is fed into the D-type hydrapulper via a chain conveyor; following pulping, the slurry—containing light impurity—passes through a junk pit into the hydrapurger and subsequently into the drum screen to remove larger light contaminants, with the accepted pulp returned to the D-type hydrapulper. This circuit serves to recover accepted pulp, increase pulp yield, and prevent the accumulation of light impurity.
At the end of the coarse screening system, a drum screen is adopted; situated downstream of the mid-consistency coarse screen and the light impurity separator, it serves as the final stage of coarse screening. After heavy contaminants are removed by a high density cleaner, the pulp enters the coarse screening system and passes through the mid-consistency coarse screen; the rejects then enter the light impurity separator, and the rejects from that unit subsequently pass through the drum screen to remove fine light contaminants and purify the pulp. This configuration operates in progressive stages: the mid-consistency coarse screen captures larger light rejects, the light impurity separator handles medium-sized contaminants, and the final drum screen ensures the thorough separation of fine light contaminants.
Although the drum screen has a simple structure, it is indispensable in the coarse screening stage of waste paper pulping. Email address: leizhanmachines@gmail.com
